On an SSH connection to shsbbs.net with the credentials bbs:shsbbs syncterm and other bbs terms give me garbage from windows. From linux, they're fine. From Putty, ZOC or the ssh commandline it's fine. Can anything be done to fix this? I'm merely using the openssh daemon to call a mystic telnet session to my BBS.

The correct place to ask SyncTERM support questions/file issues would be: https://sourceforge.net/p/syncterm/tickets/
That said, it sounds like the server is sending UTF-8 sequences. SyncTERM doesn't (yet) support UTF-8.
I tried connecting (w/SyncTERM) to the server you specified with the credentials you gave and was just immediately disconnected. <shrug>
